Bobcat Harriers Picked Third in Preseason Poll

Perennial power Northern Arizona was tabbed to finish first in both the men’s and women’s poll as voted by the league’s coaches. Weber State was ranked second in both polls, followed by the Bobcats and Montana.
The men’s poll was rounded-out by Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Portland State and Sacramento State. The bottom of the women’s ledger included Idaho State, Portland State, Eastern Washington and Sacramento State.
The Montana State men upended nationally ranked Northern Arizona last fall to capture the Big Sky title and advanced to the NCAA Championships. Senior standout Lyle Weese has graduated from the squad and Big Sky champ Casey Jermyn will redshirt this season for the ‘Cats. MSU will be led by seniors Ned Miller, Matt Holcom and Brent Winegar.
The Bobcat women have had three key runners leave the program for various reasons this summer. However, junior Ariana Lee will return as one of the top performers in the Big Sky this season. An all-Big Sky selection last fall, Lee earned a trip to the NCAA Championship by virtue of a breakthrough race at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships.
Both the MSU men and women will open their seasons with the Montana State Invitational, Sept. 20 at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
