'Cats open camp Monday

Mike Kramer opens his fourth preseason football camp as Montana State's head football coach by welcoming 90 players to campus Sunday night, but their mission will different than any of their 16 immediate predecessors.
This year's Bobcat team will be defending a championship.
"We're all excited to get going, and we have high expectations for this team," Kramer said, "but the process will not be different because of what we did last year. If anything, we will be more driven, because we know the great things within the reach of this year's team."
The core of Montana State's league-leading defense returns this season, led by bookend linemen Adam Cordeiro and Jon Montoya and safety Kane Ioane, all seniors, and sensational junior linebacker Roger Cooper. Senior corner Joey Thomas also returns on a defense which features five seniors and six players that garnered some type of preseason All-America mention.
Montana State's offense remains young this year, with only All-America linemen Brent Swaggert and Mataio Toilolo and receiver Scott Turnquist projected to start full-time as seniors. The return of sophomore quarterback Travis Lulay, who after starting MSU's last eight games as a true freshman already occupies a spot on most of the school's career passing lists, gives the team a rare building block.
The Bobcats are scheduled to practice for the first time this fall at 3:30 pm on Monday, and will go each afternoon this week at that time. The first week of drills will end on Saturday, August 9, with a limited scrimmage at 3:30 pm.
