Weese earns All-America trifecta

Weese ran a personal best of eight minutes, 34.51 seconds to earn his fourth All America honor.
"This is the third All America honor this year for Weese and fourth in his career at MSU," Bobcat track coach Dale Kennedy said. "He ran the race he thought he had to, trying to get second, but he ran well enough to get fifth.
"It was his last collegiate race," Kennedy added. "It was a fine way to go out."
With Weese's placing, he joins Shannon Butler as the only two Bobcats to make All-America in cross country, indoor and outdoor track in the same academic year.
Weese ran the first couple of laps in seventh and eighth but halfway through the fifth lap moved into second behind winner Dan Lincoln of Arkansas who finished in 8:26.65.
He held onto second into the seventh lap but was passed by three competitors in the last 300 meters of the race.
Weese's time also was a school record.
Two other 'Cat runners did well at the meet with Ariana Lee finishing 19th and Casey Jermyn 22nd late Thursday night in their respective 10,000 meter races.
Lee finished the race in 34:50.67, while Jermyn ran 29:53.63. Both marks were within 20 seconds of those runners' season's best marks.
