Bobcat men's tennis team sweeps Viks at BSC tourney

With the victory, Montana State (17-6) moves onto the semifinals where they will face No. 3 seeded Idaho State University. The other semifinal match will pit Sacramento State against No. 1 seed Northern Arizona.
Leading the Bobcats on Thursday was Tejeshwara Chigateri and Braden Olson. Chigateri, playing at No. 3 singles defeated PSU’s Chuck Haselwood 6-1, 6-0, while Olson, a sophomore from Missoula, posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mark Simpson at No. 4 singles. Chigateri and Olson also combined at No. 2 doubles, where the tandem notched an 8-3 victory over Simpson and Kapil Desai.
"It was a good first match," said MSU head coach Mike Phillips. "It was a tough match, and Portland State played much better than we expected. The win gave our younger kids a good taste of championship play and now we need to start focusing on Idaho State."
Montana State will play the Bengals on Saturday.
