Bobcat women fall to Colorado State in WNIT

Big Sky Conference co-MVP and Bobcat leading scorer Isabel Stubbs picked up her fourth foul of the first half as the buzzer expired, and a pair of free throws by Jasai Ferrucho gave the Rams a 39-24 halftime advantage. Stubbs eventually fouled out after playing only three-minutes in the second half.
In the second period, Colorado State (19-12) built a 16-point margin at 53-37 on a Jackie Campbell three-pointer with 14:17 remaining in the game. Montana State (21-9), who hit nine treys in the second stanza, closed the gap to 68-57 with 6:18 left on a Brandi Lewis three-pointer. The Rams then went on a 16-7 run down the stretch to secure the victory.
"We had a great season and we played a very good team that probably should’ve been in the NCAA tournament," Potera-Haskins said. "We played them even in the second-half and we have nothing to hang our heads about."
The Bobcats were paced in the loss by Candis Wilcox, who tallied a game-high 24 points, including a six-of-11 effort from three-point range. Also in double-digits for MSU were Lewis 16, Jana Smith 11 and Kati Burrows 10.
The Rams, who finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field and scoring most of their points inside due to a huge size advantage, were guided by Ashley Augspurger with 15 points, followed by Shannon Strecker 14, Joy Jenkins 13 and Katie Borton 11.
For the game, MSU shot 38 percent from the field, 43 percent (13-30) from three-point land and 77 percent from the line. CSU out-rebounded the Bobcats 41-32. Montana State was led under the glass by Smith with seven boards.
