Bobcats Lose Season with Loss

"I really think he’s their all-conference player," said MSU coach Mick Durham. "We spent a
lot of our preparation time on him. We did a nice job on the other guys, but he really seemed
to get them going."
Montana State led 29-24 at halftime, and had out-shot Sac State 45% to 38% in the first half.
In the second half, though, Sacramento State exploded for a 60-% half, while the Bobcats shot
29%. "We led in the second half of our last three road games (all Bobcat losses)," Durham
said. "That second half tonight doesn’t feel very good. Right now I’m very disappointed with
how we played in the second half."
Sac State scored the first five points of the second half, and after MSU led 34-33 with 15:38
to play Derek Lambeth scored the Hornets’ next 11 points, and outscored the ‘Cats 11-2 in
that stretch. Jason Erickson made a free throw with 6:09 to play to draw the Bobcats to within
56-48 at 6:09, but the Hornets closed the game on a 16-4 run.
A pair of Bobcat seniors concluded their careers on Saturday. Pete Conway finished with 11points, and his career ends as the second-leading three-point shooter in school history. CaseyReynohlds had eight points and two rebounds. Freshman Shea Washington had 13 points and12 rebounds for the Bobcats. Lambeth’s 25 points led all players, and Jimmy White added 16points and 11 boards for Sac State.
The win helped the Hornets qualify for the Big Sky Tournament for the first time in schoolhistory. Durham credited fourth-year coach Jerome Jenkins with the program’s turnaround."Sac State has always had talent, but coach Jenkins has them playing together. They are amuch better team."
