MSU Women Run Home Court Streak to 21-Games With Win Over Eagles

Montana State senior Isabel Stubbs tied a career-high with 29points and added 17 rebounds to rally the Bobcats past Eastern
Washington 78-71, Thursday night in Worthington Arena. The
win gave MSU a school-record 21 consecutive home court
victories.
The native of Ayr, Australia, converted eight-of-15 from the
field and went 13-of-17 from the free throw line. Stubbs
recorded 15 points and nine rebounds in the first half.
Montana State (15-4, 6-0) trailed 31-23 at the 6:10 mark of
the first stanza, before the Bobcats went on a 17-5 run to take
a 40-36 advantage following a Kati Burrows basket. The run
was sparked by a pair of three-pointers by Brandi Lewis. The
Bobcats entered intermission with a 41-40 lead.
"We got off to a slow start, but we kept our composure," said MSU second-year coach
Robin Potera-Haskins. "Brandi (Lewis) hit some big shots and Isabel (Stubbs) got the job
done inside. I was pleased with how we played the final five-minutes of the half."
In the second stanza, Eastern Washington (12-7, 3-3) took a 45-44 lead at the 16:02 mark on
a Stephanie Ulmer three-pointer. Montana State responded with a 10-2 run, taking a 54-47
lead on a pair of Lewis free throws.
EWU fought back and tied the score at 60-all with 8:15 remaining, but the ‘Cats answered
with eight unanswered points to seal the victory.
"We were a little sloppy at times, but I thought we dug down deep in the second half and really
did a nice job finishing the game," Potera-Haskins said.
Also in double-figures for the Bobcats were Lewis 15, Burrows
12 and Candis Wilcox 11. Wilcox, a senior from Rexburg,
Idaho, also tallied six rebounds and six assists.
Eastern Washington was paced in the loss by KathleenNygaard with 22 points and nine rebounds, while MichelleDemetruk added 15 points and three steals.
For the game, MSU out-rebounded the Eagles 47-31. TheBobcats ended the game shooting 41 percent from the field.Montana State also got the job done on the line where inconnected on a school-record 34-of-44 free throws, while theEagles went 15-of-26 from the line.
Montana State will host Portland State on Saturday night.
