Three Bobcat skiers qualify for NCAA Championships

Alex (Munteanu) has been our top alpine performer all season, said MSU director of skiing Dan Brelsford. "We pretty much knew she had qualified, but to have Andrea (Drew) and Emily (Robins) get in as well is just tremendous."

Munteanu, a freshman from Stratton, Vermont, placed ninth in the giant slalom last weekend at the NCAA West Regional and had numerous top 10 finishes throughout the season.

Drew, a sophomore from Telluride, Colo., had a season best 17th place finish in the slalom at the MSU Invitational in January. Robins, who paced the Bobcat nordic contingent this winter, had three top 15 finishes, including a season-best 14th place showing at both the Utah/Alaska-Anchorage Winter Games and the Colorado Invitational.

"I wasn’t sure how we were going to fare heading into the season," Brelsford said. "Our kids worked extremely hard and it’s nice to see their efforts payoff."

Dartmouth College will host the 2003 NCAA Skiing Championships next week.
