Lewis Ties School Mark for Treys as Bobcat Women Tame Bengals

Even a pesky sty on her eye couldn’t stop Montana State’slong range threat Brandi Lewis from finding the basket as theBobcats rolled to a 95-74 victory over Idaho State, Thursdaynight in Reed Gym.
The sophomore from Siloam Springs, Ark., tied a MontanaState school-record for three-pointers in a game, convertingseven-of-ten from long range to finish with a game-high 21points.
Also in double-figures for Montana State (17-4, 8-0) were
Kati Burrows 13, and Isabel Stubbs, Candis Wilcox and
Belinda Stubbs with 12 points, each. For Belinda Stubbs, her
12 points was a season-best. She also pulled down eight
rebounds. Isabel Stubbs finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Montana State jumped out quickly taking a 23-5 lead at the 11:46 mark of the first stanza on a
Lewis trey. The Bobcats shot 55 percent from the field and entered intermission with a 57-33
advantage.
"We talked about not over-looking Idaho State and taking it one game at a time," said MSU
head coach Robin Potera-Haskins. "We came out very focused and everyone was making
their shots. It was about as good of a half we’ve had this season."
In the second period, Idaho State (5-15, 1-7) cut the deficit to 70-60 with 6:57 remaining
following a free throw by Yolanda Banks. The Bobcats responded with a 24-6 run to take an84-66 advantage with three-minutes left on a Megan Foy lay-in. Montana State built its largestlead of the second half at 92-68 on a pair of Jana Smith free throws with 59-seconds left.
Idaho State was paced in the loss by Cristal Fernandez with 16 points, four assists and threesteals.
MSU finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field. The ‘Cats also tallied a season-highten three-pointers and ended the game shooting 53 percent from long distance.
"It’s time to start taking a look at Weber State," Potera-Haskins said. "It’s going to be a greatgame."
MSU will be at Weber State on Saturday night in Ogden, Utah.
