Bobcat Women Head to Texas State Classic

THE VITALS:
The Montana State women’s basketball squad will make its first road trip of the season when they play at the Texas State University Classic this weekend in San Marcos. Texas State is formerly known as Southwest Texas State. The Bobcats will play Texas State on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. (MST). MSU will conclude the classic against Sam Houston State on Saturday at 3 p.m.

For the second straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on KSCY 96.7 (The Sky) FM.
TEXAS STATE CENTURYTEL BOBCAT CLASSIC:
Montana State will spend its Thanksgiving weekend in San Marcos, Texas, at the Texas State-CenturyTel Bobcat Classic. The games will mark a homecoming of sort as three members (Robin Potera-Haskins, Mark Kellogg and Greg Kudrna) of the MSU coaching staff return to their roots. Potera-Haskins coached at Texas Wesleyan, Austin College and at Wilmer Hutchins High School in Dallas. Kellogg played at Austin College and coached at West Texas A&M, while Kudrna coached along side Potera-Haskins at Texas Wesleyan. This weekend will mark the playing of the 13th annual CenturyTel Classic. The TSU Bobcats captured the title last year with a win over Alcorn State. The field for the classic has already been set, as Sam Houston State will meet Jackson State on Friday as well. Texas State will play Jackson State on Saturday, following the MSU-Sam Houston State game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
Texas State is currently 0-1 after dropping an 86-44 decision to No. 24 TCU on Nov. 21. It is the only game the Bobcats play before meeting Montana State. Sophomore Ally Kelly notched a team-high ten points in the loss. MSU is familiar with Kelly as she started against the Bobcats, while playing for Ole Miss two years ago at the GranTree Thanksgiving Classic. Sam Houston State is 0-1, dropping a 63-55 decision at North Texas. The Bearkats were paced by senior Kelley Kramer, who posted 13 points and ten rebounds, while shooting 57 percent from the field and 80 percent from 3-point range.
BIG SKY CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Montana State senior Sheila Hutchison earned her first ever Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honor for her efforts in MSU’s victories over UC Riverside and Utah State. The 5-foot-9 guard from Blackfoot, Idaho, averaged 18.5 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while shooting 50 percent from the field. Hutchison recorded a career-high 25 points, along with eight boards, six assists, four steals and two blocks in the season-opener against UC Riverside. She had 12 points against Utah State.
