Gators top MSU

Eighth-ranked Florida, the highest-ranked team the Bobcats have every faced in the regular season, opened its season with a 112-73 win over MSU in Gainesville on Tuesday.
David Lee scored 20 points and the Gators shot 66% in Florida's win. UF simply overpowered the outmanned Bobcats, said MSU coach Mick Durham. "They have so much size," Durham said, "and they have size at every single position. Theyr'e a really good team, and the atmosphere was great tonight. They have some good players. That's a really good team."
Guard Frank Brown and center Matt Towsley each had 12 points to lead the Bobcats, who shot 41% on the night. Durham said there were several things with which to be pleased. "We hung tough and battled all night, we just couldn't grab a rebound when we needed one," he said. "We had a good road trip, and we'll learn from this experience. This isn't the game that we'll remember this trip by, we'll remember all three games."
MSU opened the season by winning Florida International's Hampton Inn Tipoff Classic. The Bobcats defeated Quinnipiac and Howard, and take on Idaho in the home opener on Saturday. Tipoff is tentatively scheduled for 2:35 pm to avoid conflict with MSU's football game at Northern Iowa.
