Three Bobcats Hit Double-Figures as Montana State Stifles Aggies

“I’m happy with the effort our kids gave us, especially on the defensive end,” said MSU third-year coach Robin Potera-Haskins. “We struggled on the offensive end, but we made our shots when we needed to and were able to pull away right before halftime.”
Montana State (2-0) used a 7-0 run with 2:21 remaining in the first stanza to take a 30-21 lead at intermission. In the second half, the Bobcats used a 21-4 run over the first eleven minutes to take a 51-25 advantage at the 9:35 mark following a basket by freshman Alyssa Nelson. The Bobcats took their largest margin of the game at 64-38 with 3:20 left on a Nelson three-pointer.
“All eleven of our kids got to play and gain some valuable experience,” Potera-Haskins said. “The freshmen got a chance to find a rhythm and I thought they did a nice job.”
MSU junior Kati Burrows paced all players with ten rebounds, en route to her first double-double of the season. Senior Belinda Stubbs also bolstered the Bobcat line-up under the boards with eight rebounds. Hutchison, who has led Montana State in scoring the past two games, dished out a game-high four assists, while adding four steals.
Utah State (0-2) was paced in the loss by Ali Aird with 11 points and four rebounds.
Montana State will play at the Texas State University tournament this weekend. The Bobcats will meet host TSU on Friday in San Marcos.
