Bobcat Women’s Basketball Program Inks Three Treasure State Standouts

DeHann, a three sport standout at Manhattan Christian High School, has garnered all-state and all-conference honors in basketball, volleyball and track and field. Last season, she averaged 19.5 points and 12 rebounds per game. DeHaan comes from a Manhattan Christian girls’ basketball program that produced former Bobcats standouts Brooke Svendsen and Blythe Hommes.
As a student-athlete she is an all-state academic pick and is a national honor society honoree. In addition, DeHann is listed in Who’s Who in Sports and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.
“Amanda is a very talented athlete and I can’t wait to put her skills to use at Montana State,” Potera-Haskins said. “We are building a team of speed and she fits well into what we need in a player. She is an explosive jumper, a good scorer, and most importantly, and outstanding student and person.”
Goodman averaged 17 points and ten rebounds, while shooting 45 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw at C.M. Russell High School, last winter. For her efforts, she garnered all-state accolades and was named to the Great Falls Tribune Super-State team. Goodman led the Class AA ranks in free throws attempted and was second in the state in rebounding. In addition, she was a team captain and also earned CMR most valuable player kudos.
As a student-athlete, Goodman is three-time all-state academic selection and a member of the honor society. She is also a peer mentor.
“Erin comes from a great basketball and sports family,” Potera-Haskins said. “She is a great student and has a tremendous work ethic. Erin has great offensive skills and is very aggressive. We’re ecstatic that she has joined her brother (MSU football player Jason Goodman) and become a Bobcat.”
Buckless, a two-time all-state performer at Whitefish High School, averaged 11.2 points, 4.9 assists and 3.1 steals last season. She ended her junior season shooting 52 percent from the field to lead the Bulldogs to a second place finish at the Montana Class A state tournament. In addition, she also set WHS’s single-season assists record and was named team co-MVP. An outstanding athlete, she also lettered in volleyball and track and field. Buckless holds the Bulldogs’ school-record in the pole vault.

“Brandie is another player that’s had great success both on and off the court,” Potera-Haskins said. “She sees the court very well and has the ability to drive to the basket or hit the outside shot. Brandie will be a nice addition to our program and will give us added depth at the point and off-guard spots.”
MSU has completed its 2004-05 recruiting class.
