Gibson leads MSU at Regionals

Gibson had a really outstanding performance, Bobcat coach Dale Kennedy said. "In all likelihood he'll be at the NCAA competition in Cedar Falls, Iowa."
Colorado's Dathan Ritzenhein took the individual title on the men's 10-kilometer course in 30:22 and the Buffaloes captured the team crown as well. Big Sky members Northern Arizona and meet host Weber State both had impressive showings. NAU's team was second with 83 points while Weber's men finished just in front of MSU, beating the 'Cats by 11 points for seventh place.
"Team wise for the men, it wasn't what we'd hoped it would be," Kennedy said. "Tony Bachman and our freshmen did really well."
The Bobcat women took 11th, with Ariana Lee placing 15th overall in the 6K race at 21:43. Lee just missed the top 10, finishing three seconds behind Breanne Sandberg of Brigham Young.
"The disappointment for us was that Ariana would earn a berth to the NCAAs and she was five tenths of a second from automatically getting in," Kennedy said. "Nobody stepped up (on the women's side)."
Brigham Young's Michaela Mannova took the individual crown in 20:33 en route of leading the Cougars to the regional crown.
