The Montana State volleyball squad will play its final two regular-season matches this weekend when they travel to the Pacific Northwest. The Bobcats will open the weekend against league-leading Eastern Washington, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. (MDT) in Cheney. MSU will conclude Big Sky Conference action against Portland State, Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Rose City.

REWRAPPING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
The Bobcats split a pair of matches last weekend within the confines of the Treasure State. Montana State traveled to Billings on Tuesday for a non-conference match against Rocky Mountain College. The ‘Cats cruised to a 30-13, 30-20, 30-12 win over the Battlin’ Bears. Meggie Malyurek and Megan Zanto each had nine kills, while Zanto and Kamber Kelly paced MSU with seven blocks. For the match, the Bobcats outhit Rocky Mountain .252 to -.049, while also holding a 14 to 4 advantage in blocking. The ‘Cats also held a decisive 12 to 1 margin in serving aces, as Zanto and Angela Wiebe each nocthed three. MSU returned to Big Sky action at Montana on Friday night. The Grizzlies handed the Bobcats a 30-28, 30-21, 32-30 setback in front of 628 fans. MSU was led in the loss by Malyurek and Zanto with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Libero Kandice Kelly paced the ‘Cats with 15 digs.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Freshman Angela Wiebe was named the Montana State University Player of the Week for her efforts against Rocky Mountain College and the University of Montana. The 6-foot-1 native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, recorded 13 kills (2.17 kpg) and a team-high 14 blocks (2.33 bpg), while hitting .276 from the field. Against Rocky Mountain, Wiebe tallied five kills, six blocks and three aces, while backing that performance with eight kills and eight blocks against Montana. She ranks among the top five blockers in the BSC.
CROWD CRAZY:
The Montana State University volleyball program continues to be one of the nation’s success stories. This week, the ‘Cats are ranked No. 16, averaging 1,570 fans per game. A month ago, MSU drew 4,741 for the annual ‘Cat-Griz clash, and outside of Hawai’i, it is the fourth largest single-match crowd in the nation this season. In addition, over the past two seasons, MSU has been ranked among the nation’s top 10 all-academic teams.
