Calvin Ento scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace Montana State in its first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday.
Bobcat coach Mick Durham said he was impressed with the effort of Ento and fellow senior Danny Faaborg, along with freshmen P.J. Owsley and Carson Durr. "I was impressed with two of the seniors, Calvin and Danny, and two of the freshmen, P.J. and Carson," Durham said. "We need that senior leadership, and Calvin and Danny really stepped up today."
Guards Jason Erickson and Frank Brown combined for 20 points, six rebounds, 10 assist, and three steals. Brown had six assists himself, and Erickson had two steals. As a group, the Bobcats shot only 37% (43-114), but had only 16 assists in 32 minutes of action.
Durham said this fall has been typical regarding the defense's relationship to the offense. "The defense is ahead of the offense," Durham said. "We mixed in man and zone. We still have some word to do offensively. We have some guys that are still thinking a little on offense."
Montana State will not have another organized scrimmage this fall. The team plays its first exhibition on November 10 against Simon Fraser.
