The Montana State volleyball squad will look to establish a new school record for attendance when they host the University of Montana in the annual ‘Cat-Griz clash, Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena. Please note this is a venue change from Shroyer Gym. Last year, 6,378 fans jammed Worthington Arena, which set a Montana and Big Sky attendance record. MSU won the match 3-2 over the Grizzlies, MSU’s fourth straight over UM.

REWRAPPING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
Montana State split a pair of Big Sky Conference road matches last weekend. The Bobcats opened their western swing with a 30-22, 30-22, 30-32, 30-25 setback at Sacramento State. For the match, MSU hit a paltry .050, including a -.032 hitting percentage from its outside hitting corps. Middle blocker Megan Zanto paced in the Bobcats in the loss with 14 kills and eight blocks. Setter Kamber Kelly dished out 34 assists and added a team-high 19 digs. The Roundup native also chipped in five kills, four blocks and a service ace. On Saturday night, Montana State rebounded with a 31-29, 30-27, 30-26 victory over Northern Arizona. MSU rallied from a 29-27 deficit in game one and didn’t look back the rest of the way. For the match, the ‘Cats hit only .102 from the field, but 17 NAU service errors helped the Bobcat effort. Zanto again led the Bobcats with 11 kills and five blocks, while Kelly notched a team-high 16 digs.
MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sophomore middle blocker Megan Zanto was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts against Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. For the weekend, the 6-foot-3 native of Helena, averaged 3.57 kills and 1.86 blocks per game. Against the Hornets, Zanto tallied a weekend-high 14 kills and eight digs. On Saturday night, she had a team-leading 11 kills and five blocks. Zanto also chipped in five digs and an ace versus NAU.
CROWD CRAZY:
Montana State will try to establish a new school volleyball attendance record this Friday night in Worthington Arena. Last year, in Dave Gantt’s last home match as Bobcat mentor, a record 6,378 attended the game, which is the largest crowd to ever witness a match in Montana and Big Sky Conference history.
