Media: This week’s game will be televised live by CSTV: College Sports Television, and may be seen on satellite services such as the Dish Network and DirecTV. The game may be heard statewide on the Bobcat State Farm Radio Network, and worldwide on the internet at www.msubobcats.com.
If there is such a thing as a must-win game in October, Montana State and Idaho State each face one this week. The Bengals rallied for a huge 55-52 overtime win over Eastern Washington to avoid a 0-2 conference start last week, while the Bobcats demolished St. Mary’s.
While Idaho State looks to stay in the Big Sky title chase this weekend, Montana State becomes the last team to join the conference fray, and will look to defend its home field in the team’s league opener.
Volleyball
This Week: vs. Montana 10/10, Bozeman, MT **WORTHINGTON ARENA** 7 pm
Last Week: lost 1-3 to Sacramento State, and def. Northern Arizona 3-0.
Montana State split a pair of Big Sky Conference road matches this last weekend. The Bobcat’s lost to Sacramento State, 1-3 on Thursday, and defeated Northern Arizona 3-0 on Saturday. MSU is now 2-2 in Big Sky Conference play, and will look to make it 3-2 with a win on Friday against the Grizzlies.
Montana State will try to establish a new school volleyball attendance record this Friday night in Worthington Arena. Last year, in Dave Gantt’s last home match as a Bobcat mentor, a record 6,378 attended the game, which is the largest crowd to ever witness a match in Montana and Big Sky Conference history.
Cross Country
This Week: Next Race 10/18: at NCAA Pre-Nationals CC Invitational, Cedar Falls, IA
Last Week: at Montana Invitational 10/4, Missoula, Montana
The Bobcat harriers ran well at the University of Montana invitational this weekend. Both Montana State and Weber State proved why they are a formidable challenge in the Big Sky Conference chase.
Weber State's men and women both won the team titles while the Bobcat men took second and the women third. But the host Grizzlies edged MSU by one point in the men's dual scoring, which didn't please Bobcat coach Dale Kennedy.
Jonathan Gibson was second in the men's competition, completing the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 11 seconds on the UM Golf Course. Ari Lee was the runner-up in the women's race, finishing in 22:40 on the 6K trail.
Next up for the Bobcat harriers is the NCAA Pre-Nationals Cross Country Invitational 10/4, which will be held in Cedar Falls, IA.
Tennis, Men’s
This Week: Bobcat Open 10/10, Bozeman, MT
Last Week: All American OCT 3-5, Chattanooga, TN
Federico Ueltschi and Marek Gebicki played at the largest individual tennis tournament in the nation this past weekend and played phenomenal. In fact, Ueltschi is still playing, and on Tuesday, defeated one of the top players in the nation for his fifth straight victory to advance even deeper in the singles draw. This was the first time Montana State was represented in this tournament. Both Ueltschi and Gebicki qualified to this invitation only tournament.
Next up for the Bobcat men is the Bobcat Open this Friday.

The Bobcat women will head to Cheney, Washington, this Friday to face Big Sky Conference foe Eastern Washington.

Last Week: Heather Farr Memorial OCT 6-7 at University of Colorado
Montana State will not compete this week. The Bobcats will travel to Boise State for a meet on October 20.
Special Events
Booster Breakfast: MSU’s annual Homecoming Booster Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am on Saturday in the May Ballroom of the Strand Union Building. Kris Atteberry will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and speakers will include Bobcat coach Mike Kramer.
