Bobcat Golfers Head to Colorado

This Week
The Montana State women’s golf team travels to Boulder, Colo., for the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational. The Bobcats will face a strong regional field including Colorado, Colorado State, Nevada, Hawai’i, Washington State, and Big Sky rivals Weber State, Eastern Washington, Portland State, and Montana. The event will begin with shotgun starts at 9 am on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will consist of one 18-hole round each day.
Bobcat Notes
The Bobcats will be competing for the first time in almost a month when they begin play at Colorado on Monday morning… three of MSU’s five scorers in the season opening tournament in Fort Collins had at least one round under 80… Kristi Spring fired three consecutive rounds of under 80… Spring, MSU’s only senior, posted MSU’s low score for the tournament, and for each round in the tournament.
Bobcat Coach Brittany Basye
Brittany Basye, a former state champion at Billings Central and a WAC Champion at New Mexico, is in her second season as MSU’s head golf coach. She was Dan Davies’ assistant for three seasons. Basye was WAC Player of the Year in 1994, and was ranked 17th nationally at one point. She qualified for the 1995 Women’s U.S. Open.

“I think the layoff probably helped us. We had more days to practice, and we actually had a productive two weeks. Sometimes after you play your first tournament you find things that you need to work on, but you have tournaments and you don’t have the chance to work on those things. We had a successful two weeks as far as that’s concerned. We have two new people (Theresa DeWalt and Amanda Nielsen) in the lineup, and I think that’s a positive. I think the whole team is looking forward to next week.”
