The Montana State volleyball squad will begin its second half of the Big Sky Conference season when they travel to Pocatello, Idaho on Friday, Oct. 24. MSU will meet Idaho State at 7 p.m., in ISU’s Reed Gym. Montana State will continue its road swing when they face league foe Weber State, Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Events Center. Earlier this season, the ‘Cats defeated Idaho State 3-0, before losing a 3-2 decision to Weber State.

REWRAPPING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
The Bobcat volleyball squad split a pair of home matches last weekend in Shroyer Gym. MSU opened the weekend with a 30-18, 30-23, 30-25 setback to league-leading Eastern Washington University. Sophomore Megan Zanto paced the Bobcats in the loss with a match-high 12 kills, while hitting .219 and adding two blocks. Defensively, MSU was led by Kandice Kelly with a match-high 15 digs. The 3-0 sweep marked only the second time this season that the ‘Cats failed to win at least one game in a match. On Saturday night, MSU rebounded with a 30-21, 30-18, 27-30, 30-19 victory over Portland State. For the match, MSU hit a season best .319 from the field, as three players hit .500 or better. Zanto again paced the ‘Cats with 16 kills and eight blocks, while Kim Stonehouse 12, Meggie Malyurek 10 and LeAnn Kinvig 10, also hit double-digit kill totals. Kamber Kelly dished out 40 assists and had 13 digs.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sophomore middle blocker Megan Zanto was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend. The 6-foot-3 native of Helena totaled 28 kills (4.00 kpg) and ten blocks (1.43 bpg), while hitting .350 from the field. She had her best match of the weekend against Portland State, tying a career-high with 16 kills, while hitting .600 (16-2-28) and adding eight blocks and two aces. Last week, she ranked 7th in the nation at 1.62 blocks per game.
CROWD CRAZY:
The Montana State University volleyball program continues to be one of the nation’s success stories. This week, the ‘Cats are ranked No. 14, averaging 1,553 fans per game. Two weeks ago, MSU drew 4,741 for the annual ‘Cat-Griz clash, and outside of Hawai’i, it is the third largest single-match crowd in the nation this season. In addition, over the past two seasons, MSU has been ranked among the nation’s top 10 all-academic teams.
