Bobcat Women’s Basketball Season Tips Off on Saturday

In her first two seasons with the Bobcats, Potera-Haskins has led MSU to back-to-back regular-season Big Sky Conference titles. Last winter, she led the squad to a 21-9 overall record and a berth in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
This season, Potera-Haskins welcomes back four letterwinners, including three starters. In addition two redshirts and nine newcomers will dot the roster.
Leading the Bobcat contingent will be junior Kati Burrows. Burrows, a Bozeman native, averaged 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting a Big Sky best 55 percent from the field. Other returning starters include seniors Sheila Hutchison and Belinda Stubbs.
MSU’s other returning letterwinner is junior Jana Smith. The native of Ronan was granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA during the off season. Smith, who scored 22 points against Montana in last year’s Big Sky tournament, has undergone seven knee surgeries.
Junior Briana Fields and freshman Whitney Connolly will also look to contribute to the Bobcat attack, after sitting out last season as redshirts. Highly touted junior college transfers Nina Sanford, Hillary Scott and Jaimey Tanner will also vie for playing time.
Freshmen newcomers this season include Alyssa Nelson, Joanna Hixon and Katie Proietti, as well as Treasure State standouts Lori Jo Neubauer and Scotta Morton.
