The Montana State volleyball squad will look to continue its short two-match win streak when they host Big Sky leading Eastern Washington, Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in Shroyer Gym. MSU will continue its homestand on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they meet league rival Portland State at 7 p.m. Eastern Washington enters Friday night’s match with a perfect 5-0 slate, while Portland State plays at Montana before traveling to Bozeman on Saturday.

REWRAPPING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
Montana State swept intra-state and Big Sky Conference rival Montana 30-25, 32-30, 30-21, last Friday night in front of 4,741 fans. The crowd was the second largest in Montana State history. Sophomore Meggie Malyurek paced the Bobcats to the sweep with a match-high 16 kills and 18 digs. For the match, the 6-foot outside hitter from Big Horn, Wyo., hit .342 from the field and added two blocks in the victory. Also contributing to the Bobcat attack was freshman Nadine Göldi. The native of Oberaach, Switzerland pounded down eight kills, hit .222 and added 11 digs. Junior setter Kamber Kelly dished out a match-high 32 assists and added seven digs and three blocks. Defensively, the ‘Cats were led at the net by sophomore Megan Zanto, who tallied a match-high eight blocks against the Grizzlies. For the match, MSU notched more kills, digs and blocks than their intra-state counterparts.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sophomore outside hitter Meggie Malyurek was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts in MSU’s three-game sweep over intra-state rival Montana on Friday night. The native of Big Horn, Wyo., recorded a match-high 16 kills and 18 digs to pace the Bobcats. In addition, she hit .342 from the field and added two block assists. On the season, Malyurek in first on the team in kills and is second on the squad in digs.
CROWD CRAZY:
Montana State drew 4,471 fans for its annual ‘Cat-Griz clash on Friday night. The mark was the second largest crowd in MSU volleyball history. On the season, the Bobcats are averaging 1,564 fans per match, which ranks MSU 15th in the nation in attendance. Friday night’s match was the 17th largest at the Division I level this season, and if you take Hawai’i out of the mix, it was the 3rd largest crowd in the nation this fall.
