Bobcat Harriers to Compete at Pre-National Meet

The meet will determine where the Bobcats are in the thick of things. The MSU men will be led by Kevin Clary and Jonathan Gibson, while the women will be led by the duo of Ariana Lee and Mayra Morgado.
A total of 74 men’s and 72 women’s teams will be represented at the race, by far the largest NCAA Division I race in the country. On the men’s side, 33 nationally ranked teams will be present. Twenty-six nationally ranked women’s teams will be represented, as well. The meet could be the determining factor for the Bobcat men and women’s hopes of an at-large bid for the Big Dance in November.
The race will also mark the final weekend of competition before the Big Sky Conference Championships on Nov. 1. The Bobcat men will be competing against Big Sky Conference foes and several nationally ranked squads, including, Northern Arizona (3), Weber State (38), and Montana. The Bobcat men will also face Mountain Region foes, BYU (4), Colorado (5), Air Force Academy (37), and Utah State. The Bobcat women will face off against Big Sky rivals, including, Northern Arizona (16), Weber State, and Montana. They will also race against Mountain Region foes: BYU (1), Colorado (7), Air Force Academy, and Utah State.
The goal for the Bobcat men and women’s teams will be to defeat as many ranked teams as possible. As well as defeating some teams that will be automatic qualifiers from their region.
“This is a big race and I think that on the men’s side we’ll have a shot of knocking off some nationally ranked teams,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “On the women’s side, Ariana Lee and Mayra Morgado will be pushing for a top end finish. We’ll use this as a developmental tool for our women and it will be a very valuable race.”
