O'Brien Elevated to Assistant Head Coach

O'Brien joined Kramer's original staff in 2000, and in the past two seasons has produced fourfirst-team All-Big Sky defensive linemen. In each of those seasons, all four of MSU's startingdefensive linemen have earned first- or second-team honors. A Bobcat defensive end hasearned All-America honors in each of O'Brien's three seasons as the position's coach.
In his time with this program, Joe O'Brien has proven not to be not only an outstandingrecruiter and a extremely adroit on-field coach, Kramer said. He has proven more thancapable handling external duties. He is an outstanding representative of this program, and theseadditional duties will benefit both Joe and our team.
O'Brien graduated from Boise State in 1995, after earning consensus All-America honors andBig Sky Defensive MVP kudos as a senior in '94. He played in the World League ofAmerican Football and earned invitations to NFL training camps. The Bobcats are coming offof a 7-6 season in which they won the Big Sky for the first time since 1984.
