Gantt Earns 200th Career Win As Bobcat Spikers Defeat Gonzaga

Montana State volleyball coach Dave Gantt earned his 200th career victory as the Bobcatspikers defeated Gonzaga 30-26, 30-22, 30-14, Friday night in the first-round of theMizuno-Holiday Inn Classic.
Montana State (5-1) was paced by freshman Meggie Malyurek with a team-high 12 kills.
Sophomore setter Kamber Kelly also contributed to the MSU victory with 35 assists, a
match- high 12 and eight blocks. Senior Ana Schanze added her best hitting match of the
season with a .556 attack mark. She also notched eight blocks and four digs.
We didn't get out to a good start in game one, Gantt said. Fortunately, we played some
defense to create a gap.
In game two, we did a better job offensively, but not to the rhythm we had coming out of
Butler last weekend. In the final game, we weren't to level I thought we could play either
offensively or defensively; however, the combination of the two gave us a nice cushion and we
did a good job finishing off the match.
For the match, MSU out-hit the Bulldogs .286 to .083, while also out-blocking GU 16 to 4.
The Bobcats won the final game of the match, cruising to the win hitting .357 from the floor,while holding the Zags to -.028.
Gonzaga (0-5) was led by Abby Cullen with 14 kills and four blocks.
In the first match of the tournament, Eastern Michigan defeated Florida Atlantic in three straightgames.
The Bobcats will play EMU at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and Florida Atlantic at 7: 30 p.m.
