Bobcat Women Ink Ennis Native to Basketball Letter-of-Intent

Whitney Connolly, a 6-foot-3 center from of Ennis, has signed a national letter- of-intent toplay for the Montana State University women's basketball team next season, announcedBobcat head coach Robin Potera. Connolly prepped at The Principia School, a privateacademy in St. Louis, Missouri, the past four years.
At The Principia School, Connolly averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks pergame as a senior. She also garnered St. Louis Post Dispatch All-West Area Team honors afterscoring 35 points in the district championship game. As a senior, Connolly earned MetroWomen's Athletic Association (MWAA) first-team all-conference, all-district andall-tournament team kudos. An outstanding athlete, she was also an All-MWAA selection involleyball.
Whitney (Connolly) will be a tremendous asset to our program, Potera said. She'll be adynamic freshman that possesses good size and the ability to hit the three-pointer. We'reecstatic that she's coming back to Montana and she'll add great depth to the team and
unlimited potential.
Connolly also played with the St. Louis Hoops AAU team along side current Oklahoma
freshman standout Dionnah Jackson and Emily Jaskowiak of Tulsa.
Whit's most obvious strength is her physical stature, but she also has many other valuable
attributes, said Tom Bania, head coach at The Principia School. She has strong skills in both
the offensive and defensive aspects of the game. She sees the whole floor very well and her
shooting form is beautiful and very smooth in motion. Defensively, she has great anticipation
and terrific shot-blocking abilities.
Connolly joins Megan Foy of New Brighton, Minn., Sheila Hutchinson of Blackfoot, Idaho,
Elyse Mengarelli of Yakima, Wash., Vanessa Rogers of Pleasanton, Cal., and Belinda Stubbs
of Ayr, Australia, as Potera's second recruiting class at Montana State.
