Cats Name '02-03 Captains

Championship men’s basketball team will look to bring some of that magic to next season. BigSky MVP Jason Erickson, Casey Reynolds and Pete Conway will serve as Bobcat teamcaptains in 2002-03, MSU coach Mick Durham has announced.
"These three guys have demonstrated great work habits throughout their careers, and
particularly this spring," Durham said. "By doing that, and through their accomplishments on
the floor last year, they are proven leaders. These three played huge roles in our success this
year, and I think we’re all looking forward to next season."
Erickson became the first Bobcat in 33 years to earn All-America honors, averaging 10.1
points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals a game. He will be a junior next season, and
hails from Eagle River, Alaska. Reynolds was an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention choice and
was named Big Sky Player of the week in consecutive weeks. The senior from Belfair, Wash.
averaged 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists a game. Conway is one of the most prolific
and accurate three-point shooters in Bobcat history. Conway, a senior from Billings, averaged
7.9 points a game last season, and shot 42% from three-point range, 49% in league games.
Montana State was 20-10 last year, won the Big Sky regular season title by two games, and
by beating Utah State in the NIT’s opening round earned the program’s first victory in a major
post-season tournament in 50 years.
