Bobcat Skiers Sit in 16th at NCAA Championships After Two Events

MSU’s nordic standout Ellen Blom finished 24th in the women’s five-kilometer classic race on Thursday. Blom completed the race in a time of 16:40. Mari Storeng of Colorado captured the individual title finishing in 15:27.
On Thursday, the ‘Cats received a strong showing from senior Suzan Dole, who just missed All-America kudos, placing 13th in the giant slalom with a two run combined time 1:59.68. Alaska-Anchorage’s Aurore deMaulmont used the home-hill advantage at Mt. Alyeska to win the giant slalom title with a clocking of 1:55.90.
Dole will compete in the slalom race on Friday, while Blom races in the 15-kilometer freestyle on Saturday.
The University of Denver is in first place after two days at the NCAA meet with 364 points, followed by Utah, 338, and Colorado 332
