Bobcats Get Tangled in Spider's Web

University of Richmond advanced to the second-round of the NIT with a 63-48 victory overthe Bobcats, Saturday night in Virginia.
The Spiders' Reggie Brown scored a game-high 21 points to help Richmond advance to face
the University of Minnesota on Monday night. Richmond built a 32-25 halftime advantage and
out- scored the Bobcats 31-23 in the second stanza.
Richmond's defense was a concern heading into the game, said MSU head coach Mick
Durham. They base their program on defense and we were unable to knock down the shots
we needed to in order to get back in the game. We just missed our open shots. We've been a
good shooting team on the road this season, but we just didn't have the answer tonight.
MSU was led by Damir Latovic with a team-high 11 points. Aaron Rich, James Clark and
Pete Conway each chipped in nine points, apiece. Junior Casey Reynolds finished with a
team-high seven rebounds. For the game, MSU shot 40 percent from the field and was
seven-of-20 from three-point range. Richmond (21-13) shot 50 percent from the field,
including a red-hot 57 percent in the opening period.
Not too many people would have predicted the Bobcats winning a Big Sky Conference
championship; winning 20-games; and playing on March 16 at the beginning of the season.However, MSU overcame adversity and played as a team under the leadership of seniorsRich, Clark and Kenny Plummer.
Our three seniors gave us everything we asked of them as a coaching staff, Durham said.Our success this season is a credit to them and what you can do together as a team.
It was a great journey.
