Hawkeyes topped Montana State 65-44 in the Gazette Hawkeye Challenge's first round.
MSU shot just 32.7% for the game and had no scorers in double-figures. Tellingly, MSU shotjust 3-for-7 from the free throw line.
Their defense got to Jason and Pete early, and that set the tone, said MSU coach MickDurham. We hung around with our defense as long as we could, but at some point you haveto make shots to get some energy, and we couldn't do that.
