Cats Drop Tourney Title Tilt

outrebounded the Bobcats 40 to 26 to win MSU's Holiday Stores Big R Classic in Bozemanon Monday.
Siena opened up a 13-point lead in the first half and led by eight at halftime, allowing the 'Catsto get as close as three only one time in the second half. Prosper Karangwa scored 18 pointsin winning tourney MVP honors for Siena, while Antoine Jordan had 16 points and TommyMitchell had 14. Each earned all-tourney honors.
Bo Segeberg had 13 points for MSU, and led the Bobcats with five rebounds, while CaseyReynolds had 12 points and four boards. Pete Conway, who went off for 28 points onSunday, had just seven points against Siena.
If you let him alone for just a second he can hit back-to-back threes and really change thegame, said Siena coach Rob Lanier. We did a good job on him.
Trailing by 10 with 14:24 left in the second half, MSU went on an 8-to-1 run to trim the marginto three, 45-42, on jumpers by Jason Erickson and Bo Segeberg. Paul Williams hit a jumperto start a 10-3 Siena run that put the Saints back in control of the game. Then with 1:43 left,Siena went on an 8-2 run to close the game.
We didn't shoot the ball well tonight, and Siena's defense had a lot to do with that, said MSUcoach Mick Durham. That is a good basketball team.
Pete Conway earned all-tourney honors for MSU, along with South Carolina State's ThurmanZimmerman and Loyola Marymount's Andy Osborn.
MSU returns to action Saturday to face Wyoming at 7 pm in the First Interstate Bank BorderWar in Billings.
