Dissly, Durr Ink with 'Cats

basketball program. The Bobcats landed Bozeman High's Nick Dissly, a 6-4, 205 lb forward,and Roberts High forward Carson Durr (6-5, 185), regarded as two of the top players in thestate, to National Letters-of-Intent on Wednesday.
"It’s important for us to sign outstanding players in the state, and you really have to start withyour hometown school," said MSU coach Mick Durham. "With Carson and Nick, we’re
getting as good a pair of athletes from Montana as we’ve signed in a long time. Nick was the
leading receiver in the state this year, and Carson was the quarterback on his football team and
won the state javelin last year, so that shows how athletic they are. We’re getting a couple of
pretty talented Montana kids."
Dissly, one of the most sought-after high school football recruits in the northern Rockies, led
Montana with 1,147 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns this season, leading Bozeman High to
the state playoffs. He helped lead the Hawks to the AA Championship Game last year, and
was named Tournament MVP. Dissly averaged 10.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in the 12 games
that he played last year, but those averages are skewed because he played only one or two
minutes in several of the games.
"Nick’s athletic ability is what really jumps out at you," Durham said. "He really understands
how to play, he has a good feel for the game, he’s a heck of a passer, and I think he’s going to
be a tremendous college shooter."
Bozeman High coach Mike Cole said the Bobcat program will be an outstanding fit for Dissly.
"I think Nick has the potential to be a great Bobcat," Cole said. "His athleticism, his vertical
jumping, his shooting, and his sense of the game are all very conducive for the level of play in
the Big Sky Conference. Montana State won the Big Sky Championship last year, the
program has great players with outstanding character, and I’m thrilled for Nick."
Durham said that Bozeman High players are welcome additions to the Bobcat program. "Nick
will be my third player from Bozeman High, after Adam Leachman and Danny Faaborg. Those
players come fundamentally sound, and they come in as real team players. That’s a credit to
Coach (Mike) Cole and Bozeman High School. There is a mutual respect between the Hawk
basketball program and the Bobcat program, and that’s a great situation to have in your own
town."
Durr was an all-state player, and helped lead Roberts to the Class C State Tournament. The
team was undefeated entering the tourney, and finished 24-2. Durr averaged 22.1 points and
10.5 rebounds a game for Roberts, scoring a career high 39 points against Plevna. He shot52.5% from the floor, 78% from the line.
"Carson is an outstanding athlete," Durham said. "He has good quickness and he has longarms, so has a chance to be a good defensive player. He has a good understanding of how toplay the game. Carson is a good shooter, but he’s been asked to play inside so he’s a goodrebounder and he’s developed some offensive skills down low. Carson’s brother Sheldon is inhis third year as one of our basketball managers, so we’re familiar with Carson and familiarwith the family, and we’re excited that he’s joining our program."
Durham indicated that the Bobcats are expected to sign two more players during the earlysigning period, which began Wednesday and ends next Wednesday.
