Bobcat Spikers Add Another Kelly to the Fold

Kandice Kelly, a three-sport standout at Roundup High School and who was recently nameda Wendy’s High School Heisman recipient, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play for theMontana State volleyball program next fall, announced Bobcat head coach Dave Gantt.
Kelly, a 5-foot-6 setter/libero, has led Roundup High School to a 30-3 record this season,heading into this week’s State B tournament. She has also guided the Panthers to conference,district and divisional titles this fall. A three-time all-state selection, Kelly has been instrumental
in leading RHS to three consecutive state championships, which culminated in her being named
tournament MVP as a junior and freshman.
"Kandice’s (Kelly) record speaks for itself," Gantt said. "She’s a proven winner and comes
from one of the greatest volleyball dynasties in the state. She is fundamentally sound with her
skills, but her intangibles are her greatest asset."
During her four-year tenure at Roundup High, Kelly has helped the Panthers to a 130-15
overall mark. She has also garnered academic all-state honors over the past four seasons, as
well.
Kelly currently leads her conference in kills and digs, and recorded a school-record 519 kills
as a junior. During her junior campaign, Kelly also notched a season-high 120 aces.
"Kandice has been a four-year starter and is an all-around player that excels in all aspects of
the game," said Roundup High School coach and mother Laurie Kelly. "She is a great leader
and strives to always do her best."
Kelly will join her older sister Kamber, who is a sophomore setter for the Bobcats this season.As a duo, the Kelly sisters won the 2000 and 2001 State B titles. They become the first set ofsiblings to play volleyball at Montana State University.
"Kandice is the total package," said MSU assistant coach Miya Malauulu, who will take overthe Bobcat program at the end of the season. "She is a great student, gifted athlete, and a verygood volleyball player. She has that natural leadership ability and a work ethic that's beyondbelief. Kandice is going to be a great addition to our program and I am looking forward tohaving her join us come fall 2003."
Montana State will look to sign three more athletes this year.
