Bobcat Spikers Sweep Denver to Claim Mizuno-Holiday Inn Title

I thought we did a great job sustainingour level of play, said MSU head coachDave Gantt. There were moments whenwe got down, but I thought we did a nicejob battling through those situations andwe finished the match with authority.
Montana State (8-0) was led defensively by Schaefer with 15 digs, while Anne Watts and
Halyk also reached double-digit save totals with 12 and ten, respectively. Setter Lorraine
Morrison dished out 39 assists in the victory and Karin Lundqvist notched a match-high six
blocks.
Denver (4-4) was paced by Kellie Savage with ten kills, while setter Clarice Golesh- Burch
added 33 assists and eight digs.
Lundqvist, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Stockholm, Sweden, was named tournament
MVP. Rounding out the all-tournament team were Schaefer, Halyk, Savage, Laurie Young of
Denver and Marci King of Texas Christian University.
The Bobcats will travel to the University of Florida Invitational next weekend, where they'll
meet the No. 11 ranked Gators, Connecticut and Houston. MSU will also play a single match
against Jacksonville.
