Bobcats Bolster Frontline…Again

Thursday, as the Bobcats signed junior forward Damir Latovic from Pensacola, Fla., JuniorCollege.
Latovic (pronounced duh-MEER luh-TOE-vich) averaged 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds thisseason at Pensacola JC, earning honorable mention All-Panhandle Conference honors.Pensacola was 21-9 last year. He earned a 3.5 grade point average (out of 4.0), and was anominated for the Hal Chasey Award, given to the player in the Florida JC ranks who achievesat the highest level in both athletics and academics.
"Damir can really shoot the basketball, and has great range," said MSU coach Mick Durham."He’s played both out on the perimeter and inside in his two years in junior college. Damir will
give us a lot of versatility, as he can play both power forward and center. He has a great feel
for the game, and is very solid in all areas. He is originally from Belgrade, Yugoslovia, and is an
excellent student who will major in engineering. Damir played against excellent competition and
quickness, specifically this season at Pensacola J.C."
As a freshman, Latovic played at Pasadena, Calif., College. He was an all-conference choice,
averaging 16 points and eight rebounds a game.
"Damir has been an excellent addition to our basketball program, our college and community,"
said Pensacola Junior College coach Paul Swanson. "I think he will be a great addition to
Montana State. He’s an outstanding three-point shooter, he has excellent range and a good
body. He has very quick hands, and his footwork is improving all the time. He’s extremely
smart, and is a very intelligent player. Damir is a good player. I wish I had him back for
another year."
Durham indicated that the Bobcats hope to sign another player during this spring’s signingperiod.
