Treasure State Native Named Montana State Women's Tennis Coach

Albrecht has been associated with the game for over thirtyyears. The Albrecht family has been instrumental in thedevelopment of tennis throughout the state. Montana's largest
junior tournament, the Kristin Albrecht Memorial, is named in
her sister's honor.
Coming up in the junior ranks, Albrecht was the No. 1 ranked
player in the state of Montana for over a decade. She was the
1978 state champion at Great Falls High. As a top collegiate
player, she led the University of Utah to the 1982 Western
Athletic Conference title with a win over perennial WAC
power, Brigham Young. Albrecht played at No. 1 and 2 singles
and doubles with the Utes from 1980-84.
Tennis has always been my first love and I'm excited to be coaching at Montana State,
Albrecht said. The MSU program has consistently been one of the top programs in the Big
Sky Conference and they have had a history of recruiting good athletes and great students. The
Bozeman community is also very generous and have been supportive of the program and I feel
this will be a great fit for me.
Most recently, Albrecht has worked at Prevent Child Abuse in Bozeman, and has served as a
teaching professional at the prestigious T-Bar-M Tennis Club in Dallas, Texas. She received
her undergraduate degree in education from Utah in 1985 and her master's in social work from
Catholic University in 1992. Following graduation from Catholic University, Albrecht served at
St. Elizabeth's in Washington D.C., and was with the child adolescence psych unit in Great
Falls.
Albrecht, who served as an assistant professional at the Spokane Racquet Club from
1988-90, won the 1999 Montana Open doubles and mixed doubles championships.
Denise has a lot of enthusiasm and experience in the sport of tennis, said MSU associate
athletics director, Dan Davies, who chaired the search committee. She has long been
associated with the sport in Montana and we feel she'll be an outstanding coach and
role-model.
Albrecht will begin her duties at Montana State this week.
