Four 'Cats Earn Post-Season Kudos

two freshmen, took MSU's post-season honors, Montana State head coach Mike Kramer hasannounced.
Senior receiver Arie Grey was honored as the program's top offensive player with the SonnyHolland Most Outstanding Offensive Player Award. Grey led the Bobcats in receiving with 32catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns. His four TDs led the team, and he also led theteam in punt returns (17-121) and kick returns (19-389). Grey was the team's all-purposeyardage leader (808). The award was named for Sonny Holland, a three-time All-Americacenter and linebacker for Montana State in the '50s.
True freshman Kane Ioane, a safety from Billings, earned the Bill Kollar Most Outstanding
Defensive Player award. Ioane, who became only the fourth freshman to win Big Sky
Newcomer of the Year honors, led the 'Cats with 60 solo tackles and 98 total tackles,
including six for a loss. He led the team with three interceptions, and also had seven pass
breakups and a fumble recovery that was returned 55 yards for a touchdown. The award is
named for MSU's former All-America defensive tackle who went on to a long NFL career
and is currently an Atlanta Falcon assistant.
Freshman fullback Ryan Elliott of Fort Benton earned the school's Jan Stenerud Most
Outstanding Special Teams Player award. Elliott registered seven special teams tackles and
also returned two kickoffs. The award was named for the former Bobcat All-America kicker
and NFL Hall of Famer.
Senior defensive tackle Shaun Ross of Stevensville earned the Don Hass Most Inspirational
Award. Ross, a team captain, had 45 tackles, including 11 for a loss, and four sacks. He alsohad a pass deflection and forced a fumble. The award was named for MSU's famed IronTumbleweed, an All-America halfback in the mid-'60s.
