Ballek Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

has been awarded one of six NCAA Division I Women's Basketball PostgraduateScholarships.
The $5,000 award is given to athletes that have excelled academically and athletically and whoare in their last year of intercollegiate competition. The student-athlete also must intend tocontinue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time graduate student.
Ballek, a native of Sheridan, Wyo., was the 1999 Big Sky Conference most valuable playerthis season. She averaged 16.3 points, while leading the league in field-goal percentage andrebounding. Off the court, she maintained a 3.7 grade-point average in exercise science; was atwo-time GTE Academic All-District VII honoree; and a four-time all-Big Sky Conferenceacademic selection.
Earning a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is a tremendous honor, said MSU athleticsdirector Chuck Lindemenn. Tennyson is worthy of the award. She is an outstanding studentand an incredible athlete. Tennyson has been a great role-model in terms of what she'saccomplished both on and off the court. I'm sure she'll be highly successful in whatever avenueshe pursues.
