Ballek Named District VII Academic All-America

Ballek has been named to the 1999 GTE/CoSIDA District VII Women's BasketballAcademic All-America team. Ballek, the 1999 Big Sky Conference most valuable performer,
was voted to the squad for the second consecutive year.
Ballek, a native of Sheridan, Wyo., has a 3.80 grade-point average in exercise science. Joining
her on the District VII squad is Jenny Lazzeri, Wyoming, Amy Monsees, Missouri, Jackie
Stiles, Southwest Missouri, and Rebecca Tomlin, Wyoming. District VII includes NCAA
Division I schools from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming and
Montana.
This winter, Ballek averaged 16.3 points per game, while leading the Big Sky Conference in
rebounding and field-goal percentage, at 8.7 boards and 55.9 percent, respectively, en route
to being named a unanimous first-team all-Big Sky Conference selection.
