Watkins, a native of Roseburg, Ore., clocked a 52.25 first run, followed by a 1:01.76 in the second heat of the day to finish with an overall mark of 1:54.01, while Dole, a native of Meeker, Colo., posted a time of 1:54.90.
Liz and Suzan really skied well and didn't hold anything back, said MSU head coach Dan Brelsford. They pushed each other and really gave us a boost in the team standings.
Linda Wickstrom of Colorado won the women's slalom title with a time of 1:45.08.
Montana State is finished at the 1999 NCAA Skiing championships. The national championships will wrap-up with the nordic classical races on Saturday. The Bobcats did not have a qualifier in the nordic events. Team scores at the 1999 NCAA Skiing Championships are based on combined men's and women's alpine and nordic races.
On Wednesday, Dole placed 15th in the giant slalom, while Watkins did not finish. The duo were the only two athletes from MSU competing in the championships.
After three days, Colorado leads in the team standings with 514 points, followed by Utah, 494.5, Vermont, 481, Dartmouth, 434, Denver, 429, and New Mexico, 417.
