Dole Places 15th at NCAA Championships

Dole, a native of Meeker, Colo., is a giant slalom specialist, who qualified in her first season for the NCAA meet. For her efforts, Dole scored 25 points for the Bobcats, after the first day of competition. The NCAA Championship team title is based on a combined total of men's and women's alpine and nordic races.
In addition, MSU All-America Liz Watkins did not finish her first run in the giant slalom on Wednesday afternoon. Watkins, a senior from Roseburg, Ore., earned All-America honors as a freshman at the 1996 NCAA Championships hosted by MSU.
Both Dole and Watkins almost didn't get to participate on Wednesday, after the duo's skis were lost by their airline, en route to Sunday River. Dole and Watkins finally got their skis in Portland, Maine on Tuesday.
I expected Suzan to do well in the giant slalom, said MSU head coach Dan Brelsford. Because we do not have a full team, these two will be going all out for individual honors, and unfortunately, Liz was unable to finish the first run. They both will get another turn in the slalom on Friday, which is Liz' best event.
Aimee-Noel Hartley of Colorado captured the individual giant slalom title, while the Buffaloes also lead in team standings with 189 points, followed by Dartmouth 182, and Utah 175. The Bobcats currently sit 13th overall with 25 points.
Dole and Watkins will compete in the slalom, Friday, March 12 at 9:30 a.m., (EST).
MSU didn't not qualify anyone in the nordic events.
