Ron Ueland
Football ‘73
Ron Ueland was a two-tome All-Big Sky linebacker, and was an honorable mention All-America in 1973 as a senior. He was a ferocious hitter and a sure tackler, and is still remembered not only as a fine leader on the field, but as one of MSU’s best-ever linebackers. Yet, for all the umbers and accolades, legendary coach Sonny Holland remembers Ueland for something else. He remembers Ueland as a symbol of MSU’s ‘70s revival, as a player that helped turn the recruiting tide back to the Bobcat program. Ueland’s final two teams at MSU were 15-7 after three straight losing campaigns, and he lead the ‘Cats to win over the Grizzlies in each of those seasons by a combined score of 54-10
