Cheer Program Description
Montana State University’s Cheer Squad is looking to fill two teams for the 2012 season. We will have a “Blue” squad which will be composed of 8-12 female athletes and up to 10 males. The Blue squad will cheer all home football games and Men’s basketball. This team will also travel to Cat/griz football and post-season games. Our “Gold” squad will be composed of 8-10 female athletes that will cheer all home Volleyball and Women’s basketball games. All members of the cheer squad have had experience either on a high school squad, college squad and/or all star team. The Montana State University Cheer Squad’s goal is to create and promote school support and interest in athletics, increase enrollment in Montana State, develop high team standards, and provide quality entertainment. It should be understood that each team member is a student athlete; student first, athlete second. Each athlete should give priority to their education and 100% discipline, dedication and responsibility to their team 100% of the time. Practices are three days per week for two to three hours, with games in addition. All members also are in the weight room with a strength coach two days per week. Cheerleaders may receive up to two elective credits.
Montana State’s Cheer program has access to cheerleading mats during practices and games. Athletes have access to an athletic trainer at all times. The Montana State Cheer Squad may attend camps and competitions if the funding is there and if the coach feels the team is ready.
The team also makes many appearances in the community throughout the year and is very involved in community service opportunities. We are committed to being positive role models to all
