Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Bobcats everywhere
Seasons Greetings!
As my family and I begin our first holiday season in Bozeman, I encourage you to take time to celebrate the many things for which we're thankful, while anticipating exciting times ahead. The energy in the air at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse is palpable as we gear up to begin 2017- a promising year for Bobcat Athletics. Our coaches continue to produce highly successful student-athletes and we need to provide them with the resources they need to flourish and grow. As the year comes to an end, I encourage you to make a donation to Montana State University Athletics and help us with that mission.
I'm thankful and appreciative to be a part of both the campus community at Montana State and the extended Bobcat family that reaches worldwide. The importance of Bobcat Athletics to so many people is obvious year-round, but during Cat/Griz week and on game day, I truly felt the Bobcat passion. To celebrate a Brawl of the Wild win in Missoula, then return to Bozeman and share the victory with so many, was a fantastic experience.
The 116th contest was a great symbol of where I see Bobcat Athletics. We want to celebrate the win, take pride in ALL of our coaches and student-athletes and their achievements, but also want to challenge ourselves to get better. As an athletic department, we seek the balance of appreciating the accomplishments without being comfortable. My message will always be to not settle for what we've done. Winning just one game, no matter how important, is a step toward our expectation of graduating student-athletes and winning championships. Tremendous opportunities lie ahead for the Bobcats, and there is no better time to start than now.
One of the major steps in that direction is the creation of our strategic plan. Carr Sports Associates is our partner in this process, and they will begin their work with us in early January and present a final document on May 1. During this process, everyone in Bobcat Athletics, along with our external constituents, will outline our focus areas. Each focus area will contain goals and objectives with an accompanying plan to accomplish both. Every area of our department will have tangible benchmarks and guidelines. This process is intended to be inclusive, and the strategic plan will be accessible to all; we want all Bobcats to understand our vision.
As we approach the end of the year, I encourage you to take advantage of several upcoming promotions surrounding our Bobcat basketball games, including pre-game cookie decorating and complimentary Santa photos before our 2 p.m. December 18 men's basketball game, Christmas ornament giveaways at our games on Tuesday, December 20 and Wednesday, December 21 and more. Big Sky Conference season ticket packages are still available too, and offer the best per-game price for our games. It's hard to believe it, but conference play is almost upon us! You can visit msubobcats.com/tickets for more information on our offerings.
Please also consider making a donation to Montana State University Athletics to help us continue to grow. You can choose to make an unrestricted gift to the Bobcat Club, support our student-athletes through the Books for Bobcats campaign, or you can make a gift to one of our sport specific clubs. Thank you for your continued support of our program!
I want to wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season. The holidays are a great time to reflect on the good things that we have accomplished and an exciting time to look towards the positive future that lies ahead of us. We look forward to seeing you in the Fieldhouse at the many contests we have scheduled in December and January.
Thanks, and Go Cats!
