Head Montana State track and field coach Dale Kennedy announced the signing of two more prep athletes to the MSU program.
Loni Havlovick of Polson, Montana joins the Bobcats as a second generation thrower and will compete primarily in discus and shot put. Her father, Brian Havlovick, was a discus thrower at MSU and was coached by present coach Mike Carignan.
“She's exactly the kind of athlete we're looking for,” Carignan said. “She has the right attitude and academics, and she comes in well-coached.”
She currently has the leading high school shot put mark in Montana's Class A. She placed second in the shot put and fourth in the discus at the 2009 Class A Montana state track and field meet.
Carley McCutchen will join the Bobcats as a hurdler primarily, but could see duty as a multi-event performer, according to Kennedy. She is the fourth ranked 300-meter hurdler in Washington state and also is ranked tenth in the 100-meter hurdles. McCutchen hails from Buckley, Washington and attends White River High School.
“She has some long jump and high jump experience as well,” Kennedy said. “She has all the making of a good multi athlete. We'll have to see how she develops. We think she's a candidate for it.”
McCutchen is a National Honor Society student and will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at MSU.
