Eastern Washington out-hit Montana State .159 to .075, en route to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-22 win over the Bobcats, Friday night in Shroyer Gym.
Montana State (3-17, 1-9) stayed with the Big Sky Conference’s top team until the waning moments of each set, including eight ties in the final stanza.
With the third set knotted at 15-all, Eastern Washington (15-7, 9-2) pulled away with five unanswered points. MSU pulled to within 24-22 before EWU’s Hayley Hills ended the match with a kill.
MSU was paced in the loss by Kyla Hendry with eight kills and a .278 attack mark. Defensively, the Bobcats were guided by Kylie Edinger with three blocks and Meghan Albiston with a match-high 18 digs.
EWU was led by Hills with nine kills and 15 digs.
The Bobcats will host Portland State, Saturday night at 7 p.m., in Shroyer Gym.
