Nolan Askelson returns to his alma mater in 2026 as assistant defensive line coach, working with Bobcat veteran Nick Jean-Baptiste. Askelson finished a decorated career int he Blue and Gold in 2023, when he wore the program's legacy jersey No. 41 and earned 1st Team All-Big Sky honors. He led the team in tackles that season, and played as a part-time starter and rotational regular in his final four seasons. Askelson entered the coaching profession early in 2026 when he joined current MSU defensive coordinator Bobby Daly at UTEP, then returned to the Cats along with Daly before spring drills. The Billings product and 2017 Class AA Defensive MVP at Billings Senior worked in private business from 2023-25.
