Jimmy Beal returned to Montana State in January, 2020, and in his two seasons has led Bobcat running backs through two very different experiences. In 2021 Isaiah Ifanse posted one of the greatest seasons ever by a Bobcat ball carrier, as he rushed for school-record 1,623 yards. Last fall Beal navigated a rash of injuries during which five different players started games and the group rushed for 1,837 yards. Beal played at MSU during the Big Sky Championship season in 2002, lettering in 2003 and 2004 before finishing as a player - and beginning his coaching career - at Rocky Mountain College (2005-06). Beal coached for nearly a decade at Northern Arizona, and for one season at South Dakota State, before returning to MSU.
