Bio
Montana State (2012) Finished one of the greatest careers in Montana State history with style, earning consensus All-America honors and becoming MSU’s fourth Big Sky Defensive MVP in the last decade… earned unanimous All-Big Sky honors for the second straight season… led the Bobcats with 97 tackles, including 17 for a loss which is tied for ninth in MSU history… logged 13 tackles, two for a loss, against Southern Utah, a game in which he also forced a fumble… forced one fumble in three straight games at the most crucial point in MSU’s season (the PSU, UM and Stony Brook games)… had a key sack against Stony Brook… his five forced fumbles as a senior was tied for second-most in a season in school history, and his seven as a Bobcat are also tied as MSU’s second-best mark… his 43 career tackles-for-loss stand tied for ninth in MSU history… selected Preseason Big Sky Defensive MVP, and tabbed as a preseason All-America by several sources… voted a team captain by his teammates following spring drills. (2011) An outstanding junior season produced Second Team All-America and unanimous First Team All-Big Sky honors… his 105 tackles was was fifth in the Big Sky and his 8.1 per game was 10th… his 17.0 tackles for loss and 1.3 per game led the league… led the team in tackles seven times… co-winner of MSU’s Chuck Karnop Toughness Award after spring drills. (2010) A second-year starter, starting all 12 games at the Will linebacker position… earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors… second on the team with 80 total tackles and third with 8.5 tackles-for-loss… broke up four passes and forced two fumbles… rolled up 19 tackles in back-to-back games against NAU and Northern Colorado, with a season-high 14 against Weber State… also 1.5 tackles-for-loss and two pass breakups against Weber. (2009) Played in all 11 games, starting nine for the Bobcats… fourth on the team with 61 tackles, including 4.0 for a loss and a half-sack… intercepted a Sac State pass that he returned 31 yards… also recovered a fumble against Weber State… Honorable Mention All-Big Sky. (2008) Redshirted at MSU.
High School A two-time all-district selection who was named his district’s sophomore of the year in 2005... served as a team captain last fall.
Academics Enrolled in MSU’s University Studies program.
Personal Born Jody Deshawn Owens on September 12, 1990, in Dallas… the only child of Kakia Lang, a police officer.
