MSU stands in fourth with Freestyle race remaining
(Feb. 7, 2026) – Katey Houser finished fourth in the women's 10K Classic to lead Montana State to fourth place in the team standings after three events of the Denver Invitational in Frisco, Colorado on Saturday.
Houser's mark of 29:09.1 came a half-second from third place, and helped the MSU women score the third-most points of the Nordic competition. Felicie Chappaz finished ninth for the Bobcats (29:53.9), Sabine Comeau was 22nd (32:01.6), Ella Ronci placed 24th (32:26.9) and Maeve MacLeod was 27th (33:25.8). Rosie Whittington-Evans did not finish for the Cats.
In the men's 10K Classic, Benjamin Barbier logged a top 10 finish for MSU. He came in 10th (26:00.7) to lead the Cats. Simon Chappaz finished 16th (26:18.4), Fredrik Nilsen was 18th (26:30.7), and Gavin Galyardt was 26th (28:02.1).
After both alpine events and the Nordic Classic race, Colorado owns first place (541 points), with Denver in second (474), Utah third (394.5) and Montana State fourth (334). The Denver Invitational finishes with the 7.5K Freestyle Race on Sunday.
